STRATA IN THE COMMUNITY: HOTAN254

The Heart of Texas Autism Network (HOTAN254) hosted Waco’s annual Autism Run/Walk on April 17, 2021. This event raises awareness and collects funds to support programs and activities used to further the goals of those living with Autism. In addition, the goal is to allow those diagnosed with ASD to reach full potential by sharing their talents, and skills to participate in the Central Texas community.

2021 Run for Autism 5K and Fun Walk
STRATA was honored to support HOTAN254 by participating in the virtual 5K and in-person 5K events on Saturday, April 17th, 2021.

According to American Psychiatric Association – “Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex developmental condition that involves persistent challenges in social interaction, speech and nonverbal communication, and restricted/repetitive behaviors. The effects of ASD and the severity of symptoms are different in each person”.

HOTAN254 offers support for families impacted by Autism in the Central Texas Region. HOTAN Parent Connection group offers friendship and a daily dialogue for parents as they navigate through family life. HOTAN254 also offers Autism advocacy and education as well as fun activities for families, kids, and those wanting to offer support to local families.

“Most importantly, we have — we are — families and individuals who live with ASD.  Some of us have just begun our journeys, and need a companion and guide as we find our path. Some of us are nearing the end of our own walks, and need assurance that our loved ones will continue on safely and in good company. We are here to help each other, to find hope and build a better future — for ourselves, our children, and the wider community.” -HOTAN254
