As an Application Support Engineer at STRATA Trust, your primary focus is ensuring the reliability, stability and smooth operation of the applications that power our business. In addition to providing application support, you’ll contribute to targeted development efforts that enhance and modernize the systems you support. These engineering tasks are highly focused and directly tied to real business needs.
You’ll work closely with teams across the organization to diagnose issues, streamline workflows and deliver incremental improvements that make our systems more efficient and user‑friendly. Development work typically includes enhancements, automation, integration improvements, performance tuning, and feature extensions to existing applications.

Candidates must already reside in the Austin area or be willing to relocate prior to starting. Remote or hybrid work is not available for this position.

What will i do?
This position is an integral part of our technology teams based in Austin, TX and will work cross-departmentally on all manner of concerns and needs. Key highlights:
Primary Responsibilities – Application Support
- Application Stability & Issue Resolution
- Maintain, troubleshoot and support the organization’s applications – for example, STRATA’s core system, imaging and workflow system and eSign platform.
- Diagnose technical issues, perform root‑cause analysis and resolve incidents to ensure application availability and performance.
- Investigate logs, SQL data issues and integration failures to restore normal operations quickly.
- User & Business Team Support
- Engage directly with internal stakeholders to understand issues, reproduce problems and deliver solutions that improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Provide clear communication, updates and guidance as issues are investigated and resolved.
- Operational Maintenance
- Perform routine application health checks, monitor system behavior and proactively address stability risks.
- Follow change‑control processes, support deployments, assist in UAT and verify successful releases.
- Documentation & Process Improvement
- Create and maintain troubleshooting guides, internal documentation and repeatable processes to reduce ongoing support load.
- Identify recurring issues and recommend preventative improvements.
Secondary Responsibilities – Software Development - Development work represents roughly 20–35% of the role and typically involves enhancements or fixes to existing systems rather than full application builds.
- Enhancements & Fixes
- Design, develop, test and manage small to medium‑sized software-based solutions to real business problems, primarily for internal stakeholders.
- Perform bug fixes, code adjustments and incremental improvements in existing applications.
- Technical Collaboration
- Coordinate with other developers working simultaneously on different features or system areas.
- Contribute code or technical input when enhancements relate to the systems you support.
Am I the right fit?
Specific requirements include:
- Minimum: BA/BS and 2+ years of experience; or the equivalent combination of education and experience, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job duties of this position.
- Ability and willingness to work in-person at our offices in Austin, TX.
- 2+ years interacting with databases and associated languages like SQL.
- Experience directly supporting all phases of software development lifecycles.
- 3+ years programming in object-oriented language like C#, C++, or high proficiency with other popular languages (JavaScript, Python, Go, etc.).
- Working knowledge of version control systems like Git or Bitbucket.
- This is not a full‑stack development role.
Desired qualifications:
- Skill in presentation, demonstrating features to clients and accepting critical feedback.
- Familiar with the Atlassian stack – JIRA, Confluence and/or Bitbucket
- Experience in independently managing projects and project backlog for software solutions
- Familiar with Imaging and Workflow systems – Laserfiche
- Exposure to posting requests to Web API services, parsing results and handling errors.
- Understanding of contemporary web standards - HTML5, JavaScript, CSS.
- Familiarity with modern frameworks - Angular, Node, ASP.Net.
- Expertise in secure front and back-end design, i.e., sanitizing user inputs and protecting secrets.
